Income Group were lucky enough to welcome two apprentices in 2022. Alice and Connor joined us as Digital Marketing apprentices, trained by the Baltic Apprenticeships agency. To recognise National Apprenticeship Week 2023, we asked them about what they thought of their apprenticeship journey so far.
Alice
“Before joining the team here at Income Group, I was working as an administrator for five years waiting to kickstart my career in the creative sector. Little did I know it would take me into the world of finance. I am currently halfway through my apprenticeship with Income Group and learning to become a digital marketer with the training academy Baltic apprenticeships.
I was quite nervous to start the job because even though I’m good with my creative side, I have never been very good when it comes to the world of numbers. Despite that, this job has helped my learning not only about digital marketing but within the financial sector.
It has been really inspiring to join this company and listen to the people that created the business and hear about their passion for what they’re building. And I may be biased, but I think they have built something amazing with IGsend.
I don’t think I could have been luckier to find Income Group when I did. I was ready to make the jump into my dream career, but it seemed quite daunting. Everyone at Income Group made it the easiest process to join as it is a company in which every employee is a joy to be around, who support each other to reach the joint goal and have an amazing selection of biscuits daily.
It has been and still is such an easy and fun experience to be a part of this company and I have learnt things I never thought I would. I’m excited to get to the end of this apprenticeship and see who wins the ongoing darts competition in the office.
I will always be the first to recommend an apprenticeship as I have always been a practical learner and find that doing the job has always been the best way to learn for me. And who wouldn’t want to earn as you learn.”
Connor
“I started off my career as a digital marketer at Income Group in June 2022, after completing my A Levels. I am pleased to have landed where I have, as studying graphic design for A levels opened my eyes up to wanting a job with a creative environment that strives on initiative and thinking outside the box.
I feel I’ve settled into the business and my role well, as there’s a real easy-going environment here that has made me feel comfortable since day one. In the 6 months I’ve been here, I feel like I’ve learnt a lot, and I can’t wait to learn more.
What I like most about my job is that it’s not repetitive, and with such a variety of skills and tools, everyday can be different.
I’m glad to be part of such a growing industry and business. I am excited to see what the future brings.”
Apprenticeships can offer a range of opportunities, providing trainees with a way to earn and learn at the same time. Income Group were so happy to be able to offer two people the opportunity to be able to start their dream career and learn to be marketers whilst helping us to develop our brand.
With this week being national apprenticeship week, we hope Connor and Alice’s message inspire more people to kickstart their career and take the opportunity to jump into the modern-day world of apprenticeships.
